our story
We moved here 6 years ago from Texas, escaping the heat and crazy weather. Newport became our home through a random phone call inquiring about property for sale. The kind man on the other end of the phone made our move easy and affordable. Four months after that call we were rolling through Newport checking out our new home. Coming around the one-way circle, ironically, we slowed down in front of our current location and both commented aloud, “That building would be an amazing restaurant.” In no way did we imagine that later we would be running a successful restaurant in that very building.
As I, Shari Brownell, write this, we are almost 2 years in and doing very well. When we first took over Jon and I knew we wanted to make simple food taste amazing. Our goal is FRESH, HOUSE-MADE food. So, our breads, dressings, marinades, sauces, croutons, etc., are made fresh daily. We do not cut corners on any menu item.
In such a short time, the community has truly embraced our presence, and we appreciate everyone who continues to make us successful. Thanks to our customers and amazing reviews, Brownells’ was recently filmed for a feature spot on America’s Best Restaurants. Our episode is likely to premiere sometime in February 2025.
The promise to our customers is to remain consistent and be the premiere dining experience in Newport. We love what we do and hope for many years of making GREAT food!
